To list a property on Canrents, you must meet the following requirements:
- You must either own the property you intend to list, or have written permission from the owner as an authorized agent to list the property.
- Must be over the age of 18 years.
- Must have residency and a valid mailing address/phone number in Canada.
- Property must be located in Canada.
Canrents only provides listing and related services. We do not manage any properties, collect rent, handle maintenance requests, or provide any property management services. Our platform connects property owners with potential renters, but all rental agreements, payments, and ongoing management are handled directly between the parties involved.
While we take precautions to verify that the person listing the property is accurate, we cannot guarantee the legitimacy of every listing. As with any financial transaction, both renters and property managers should do their due diligence before signing any leases.
We recommend the following safety measures:
- Always visit the property in person before signing any agreement.
- Verify the identity of the landlord or property manager through official documents.
- Check property ownership records through local government databases.
- Never send money or provide personal information before viewing the property.

Once you create a property listing, remember to use the "Submit Listing" functionality in your dashboard to submit the property for approval. This is a required step that many users forget.
After you submit your listing:
- Our team will review your listing to ensure it meets our guidelines and quality standards.
- This review process typically takes 1-2 business days.
- Once approved, we will send you an email notification confirming that your listing is live.
- If there are any issues with your listing, we'll contact you with specific feedback.
Each property listing includes contact information for the property owner or manager. You can reach out to them directly using the provided phone number or email address. Some listings may also include a contact form for your convenience.
Yes, you can edit your property listing at any time through your dashboard. After making changes, you may need to resubmit the listing for approval if the changes are significant (such as price changes, property details, or photos).
